My current aircraft is a Bonanza N439RR. I am an official “Octogenarian” pilot at 86 years old, still loving to fly my 1958 J35 “utilitarian” Bonanza. I want to share how I arrived at both.

I never stopped flying V-tail Bonanzas for more than 4,000 hours, starting when I was 16 years old in 1955. The girl I was dating (who later became my wife) had a father that flew a C35 Bonanza and invited me to fly to their island lake house (with a grass strip-4TA3) to see his daughter. As he threw over the yoke and I grabbed it, I thought to my young self, “I will have one of these one day.” Turned out that came true, owning six V-tails in the 65 years of our marriage.
