Twenty years ago, to fend off the usual mid-life crisis, The Lovely Mrs. Steed sat me down and asked the question: “What’s important?” Now there’s a pause for thought. With the time we have left, what do we really want to do? For me the answer was flying. I’d made several stabs at getting my Private certificate, but life had a way of interrupting the process. For her it was travel. There were places in the world she wanted to experience. “Well, if these are the two important things, then we have to make them priorities” she said, and we did.
